Most homeowners we survey ask the same question: "Should I get batteries?" The honest answer depends on how often your power goes out.
On-grid: lowest cost, fastest payback
An on-grid system feeds your home first and exports the extra power to the grid through a net meter. There are no batteries, so it's the cheapest option and pays back fastest, usually in 3–5 years. For safety, it switches off during a grid outage.
Hybrid: backup during power cuts
A hybrid system adds a battery and a hybrid inverter. You still get net metering, and when the grid fails your essential loads keep running. Batteries add cost and need replacing after 5–10 years, which stretches the payback period.
Our rule of thumb
- Rare cuts (gated societies and most sectors): choose on-grid
- Frequent or long cuts (outer sectors, villages): choose hybrid
- Already own an inverter battery: on-grid plus your existing UPS works well
